BALTIMORE – Ms. E has made a life’s work out of helping people where it counts most: She helps their heads. No, she is not a psychologist, although she does give great advice to friends and family. Ms. E helps the people of Baltimore and beyond by healing the scalp.

Many people think there’s nothing they can do if they have symptoms,” Ms. E said. “But that’s not true. A lot of factors go into scalp health and that’s where I can help.”

After more than 30 years in a brick-and-mortar salon, Ms. E has decided to try something new: She has put her salon on wheels. Healing Hair Daily Luxury Mobile Bus Spa & Salon is at your service.

Going mobile has given Ms. E  a lot of advantages and the customers think it’s a fun departure from the stationary salons.

We sat down for a few questions with this Baltimore-based healer.

Q: How did you first get interested in helping peoples’ health and hair?

A: I have been licensed for 33 years. I started shampooing in a salon when I was 9 years old. I saw so much hair loss from illness, medication, stress or product over-use or wrong use.

Q: What are some basic things people can do to improve the health of their scalp?

A: I had a cousin when I was a kid who had long hair and she came to my grandma’s house with no hair and a few patches of hair. All I could remember was my grandma stating what happened and I remember saying I want to find something to make her smile again.

Q: Does diet play a role in a healthy scalp?

A: People can improve their scalp again by getting the proper diagnosis. Most people diagnose themselves. Diagnosing yourself can create a problem that you don’t even have.

Q: What are the “signs” your hair and scalp give you that indicate you should seek a professional?

A: The Scalp gives signs during childhood 80 percent of the time – signs are continual itching, wet scalp, urine burn, brittleness, strange odor and dryness. Your diet plays a major role, but your gut is the factor.

Q: What is the satisfaction you achieve from your work?

A: The satisfaction I get is seeing a client smile when they see results in my chair after there first 20-step renew scalp detox. Most clients come in with being diagnosed most of their life with a scalp and skin issue. That can be cured or controlled.

I tell clients the best ingredients is consistency with the product and maintenance to the scalp. Most stylists  treat the hair for length. Length will come when the scalp becomes healthy and strengthened.

Q: Why did you start a “mobile” hair salon? Do you travel around?

A: After returning to the salon six months later after closing in the 2020 pandemic, clients returned and new clients were booking. I really noticed that hair loss was becoming a pandemic. Hair loss from stress, the side effects from covid, “over-producting” the hair, medication, using what was available on the shelf at stores and not having maintenance on healthy hair or scalp. Hair and scalp loss again became a pandemic.

My Healing Hair Daily Salon on wheels came about after losing clients because of high crime where my old salon was located. My clients were coming from so many different areas. I had to make a quick move and adjust to the move from being in a brick-and-mortar space for 32 years.

Q: What is the most common issue people have with scalp health and hair today?

Hair loss causes low self esteem, anger and depression… The most common issue is thinking nothing can be done. Fungus, mucus, yeast, plaque, mold and scar tissue are the number causes of scalp issues. Most people treat the symptoms not the problem.

Q: Do you have a “motto?”

A: My motto: Every strand of hair has a story and every scalp has a testimony.
